The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired Derek Clancey as assistant general manager of player personnel, the team announced on July 18, 2023.

Clancey, 54, is a seasoned professional with a long and distinguished career in hockey. After playing 441 professional games, largely in the ECHL, Clancey transitioned to management in 2006. He spent time with the Vancouver Canucks as a scout and assistant general manager before joining the Toronto Maple Leafs in his current role.

Clancey will be responsible for assisting Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas in all aspects of player personnel management, including scouting, player acquisition, and contract negotiations. His expertise and experience will be invaluable to the Maple Leafs as they continue to build a competitive team.
